Peterborough as it used to be: When New Year celebrations were held in Cathedral Square

As we say a farewell to 2025 and welcome in 2026, many of us will hold celebrations at home – or perhaps head to a local pub.

But it was only a few years ago when major celebrations were held in Cathedral Square to mark the New Year.

The Peterborough Telegraph photographers were on hand to capture images of the fireworks, cheers – and even funfairs – that were held on December 31.

See if you can spot yourself – and a Happy New Year to all our readers, advertisers and staff!
