Peterborough 3D printing specialist wins recognition for contribution during Covid-19

An innovative Peterborough company has scooped a prestigious award for its contribution to the community during the Covid-19 pandemic.

3D printing specialists Photocentric, of Oxney Road, was named winner of the Manufacturing Matters Award a new category introduced at the manufacturers’ association Make UK Midlands awards specifically to recognise companies that had contributed to the national effort during the pandemic.

Photocentric was also named runner-up in Make UK Innovation Award.

Mike Hynes, Senior Account Executive, relayr, the sponsor of the Manufacturing Matters Award, said: “We’re proud to sponsor the Manufacturing Matters category and it’s been inspiring to hear the great work of this year’s winners.”

Photocentric was the first company to mass manufacture face shields for key workers during the pandemic and just weeks ago passed the two million face shields-made milestone.

Photocentric will now go forward to the national finals to compete against other regional winners across the UK.
