The Peterborough Telegraph is running regular spotlights on cats that need new homes to support the work of animal charities in the Peterborough area.
The Peterborough and District Branch of the RSPCA do so much to rescue, nurture and subsequently rehome all kinds of pets in the area. They have continued to operate throughout lockdown and within a small radius are still permitted to rehome these animals.
Below are a selection of those that have been rescued and are in need of their forever home.
To find more details on each cat and to search for more rescue animals, visit www.rspca.org.uk/findapet/rehomeapet/process.
The RSPCA are funded entirely by public donations and receive no government money and therefore rely on the generosity of the public. Anyone wishing to support their work do so via www.rspca.org.uk/getinvolved/donate.

Handsome Peter is around 5 years old and came into care via a local veterinary practice. Peter had an injury to his ear when he first came into the branch which has now healed. He has also had dental surgery to remove his canine teeth as they were fractured. Peter is otherwise in good health and had been neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. Peter is a friendly boy who enjoys attention and fuss with familiar people. He could live in a home with children of secondary school age or with another cat after slow and careful introductions.

This lovely girl Sooty 2 came to the centre after she had been found as an unowned stray. Sooty 2 has settled in to the cattery well and is a confident and attentive cat who loves a fuss from anyone who is passing her enclosure. Because of this we think that she should be able to be rehomed into a family with children so that she can get lots of affection. She will need a room where she can live initally until she is confident enough to be in the whole house and once settled she will need to be able to go outside and explore her outside surroundings.

This Beautiful Squishy little Girl is Tilly. She arrived here at the centre from a multi-dog household. After needing some extra TLC she is now ready to look for a home and family to call her own. Tilly is a shy girl, who has found kennel life quite stressful. She is very sweet and has ALOT of love to give! She shows a very sassy and cheeky character when bonded with you. Tilly is crate trained and uses her crate as her safe haven. So her new owners will need to provide a crate for her to have a safe space in the home for her to settle on her own terms. Tilly is quite an anxious girl who finds new situations quite overwhelming so owners who have experience with nervous terriers is a must. Tilly is looking for a home where her new owners are at home most of the day to keep her company as she loves being with you once she has bonded with you. Due to her shy nature we are looking for her to go to an adult only household with no other animals or children.

This gorgeous chap is Watson. He came in with several other dog due to concern for his welfare. Watson and his buddies were living outside, as a result of this watson was covered in matts, he was in desperate need of serious bathing and grooming. After receiving some overdue TLC this cracking little man is ready to start living the good life. Watson will need full training from scratch, this includes toilet training. Being an elderly boy there is no guarantee he will ever become fully toilet trained and managing strategies should be considered such as puppy pads. As mentioned he is used to living outside, so not only will he need teaching where he is suppose to toilet, he will also need teaching what it is like to live in a normal home environment. Noises won't fase him as Watson is pretty deaf, but we are sure he will get used to a snuggly warm bed and the retired lifestyle pretty quickly. Watson needs his new owners to be prepared to offer him love, patience, understanding and time.
