Idera Real Estates Ltd has submitted an application for 16 Whitsed Street which would see the demolition of a shop and construction of an extension to the existing dwelling.

The application states: “It is proposed to demolish the existing single storey structure, convert the two storey house and construct a new two storey building to the frontage with a second floor within the roof.

“This will house a total of five one-bed units.

“The house will be extended and converted into three, one bed units.”

It adds: “The proposal should be seen as the best use of the site as directed by national government and we believe is sympathetic to its surrounding neighbours.”

The plans include off-street parking.

The application will now be considered by the council’s planning department.
