My Gym: New children's soft play and fitness centre opening soon in Peterborough

A new soft play and fitness centre for children is opening in Peterborough for children aged six weeks to 11 years old.

My Gym, at Ortongate Shopping centre, in Orton Goldhay, is opening on September 24.

Owners say it’s the “first soft play children's fitness centre in Peterborough.”

"I am passionate about creating a healthy and safe place for children to get or stay fit,” Nikola Harrison, manager of My Gym, said.

"We offer 50 to 60-minute classes and every week we will change the layout of the gym, so the environment will always be changing.

"When the children come in they will see a different environment with familiar apparatus such as ball pits, zip wires, swings and a rock wall.”

The centre will offer a mix of ‘structured dependent’ classes, for younger children, and independent sessions, for older and more confident children – including ‘ninja training’ in the style of the TV show Ninja Warrior.

The sessions for younger children will include a warm-up, song, dance, gymnastic skills, games and puppet shows, which will all change weekly.

"The gym is a soft play environment offering structured classes so children can learn social skills and improve their strength, agility and coordination,” Nikola added.

“We help children build confidence and become healthy, active and – most of all – happy.”

My Gym is located next to Anytime Fitness – an adult gym which Nikola says provides an opportunity to parents and carers of children attending the centre to work out at the same time as their children.

My Gym also offers camps during the school holidays and parties, with activities tailored to the children’s requests.
