Motorists warned of possible delays on section of A47 in Peterborough over 14 weeks
Motorists are being warned to expect possible delays on a major Peterborough road over the next few months.
Highways chiefs say the speed limit on a section of the A47 will be reduced for about 14 weeks to allow a range of improvement works to be carried out.
Details have just been released by National Highways which has just published an order outlining the area of road to be improved and the nature of the works to be undertaken.
The works will cover the section of the A47 between the Sutton roundabout to junction 16, the Bretton Gate interchange.

Highways officials say it will mean that the speed limit will be reduced to 50 mph for 24 hours each day on the eastbound carriageway from the eastern side of Sutton Roundabout to the eastbound entry slip road at Junction 16 Bretton Gate Interchange.
A spokesperson stated: “This will enable resurfacing, the renewal of road markings and studs, replacement road signs, traffic detector loops, bridge joints and kerbing works to be carried out in safety.”
The lay-bys adjacent to the A47 eastbound carriageway sited about 805 metres and 2,736 metres east of Sutton roundabout will be closed for 24 hours each day for the duration of the works.
The works are expected to take place over about 14 weeks from April 7 between 8pm and 6pm on Mondays to Fridays.
National Highways say that although the works are expected to last 14 weeks, the order, which will come into force on April 6, might continue in force until the works have been completed or for a maximum duration of 18 months, whichever is earlier.
