More than 20 jobs to be created as Peterborough biscuit maker looks to expand its operations
More than 20 jobs are to be created at a Peterborough biscuit maker as it expands its city factory.
The plans have been drawn up by the IRCA Group which is seeking to add extra production capacity to its premises at the Coningsby Business Park Industrial Estate, Stirling Way, Bretton.
While much of the 0.4 hectares site is used for the production, storage and distribution of confectionary food products, the company says it has other buildings which could provide extra capacity with a 85 square mere expansion .
It is planned that the expansion to the food production factory will feature an extension with the installation of external plant and machinery and a nitrogen tank, and the construction of an external staircase and fencing.

Work at the factory, which currently employs 20 people, includes the production of cereal-based and baked ingredients through baking, blending, drying and coating with various types of chocolate.
The company has applied to Peterborough City Council for a change of use permission for its buildings, units 1A, 1b, 2 and 3 from just general industrial to general industrial and storage and distribution.
The company also operates from units four to eight plus units 21 to 27 and 31 to 36 and has been on the site since 1982.
A document submitted with the application states: “The proposed development will provide increased production capability and efficiencies."
The Peterborough company is part of the wider IRCA Group, which has 22 manufacturing facilities across the world specialising in semi-finished food ingredients.
Four months ago, a similar application was rejected after concerns were raised by Anglian Water about water drainage.
IRCA states that its proposals do not encroach on the Anglian Water supply infrastructure.
