The 48th Fighter Wing started the increase in flying operations over East Anglia and the surrounding areas today, with the programme set to last until Thursday.

These “surge” operations, or short periods of increased flying, facilitate a number of training requirements for both F-15 aircrew and support personnel on the ground, and are necessary to ensure a ready and capable force.

Initial plans for the operation included the possibility of night flying, however today a spokesman said there were no plans for night flights this week.
