Man killed on A16 named as Peterborough United groundsman

Police have named the man who died on a collision on the A16 near Peterborough last week as William Whitney.

Mr Whitney -known as Will - was a pedestrian involved in the collision with a HGV at about 8.26pm on Wednesday (February 12.)

He was the groundsman at Peterborough United, and yesterday the club paid tribute to the 21-year-old.

A club spokesman said: “Everyone connected with the football club were shocked to learn of Will’s death. We are in constant contact with the family at this incredibly difficult time and are offering support to colleagues affected by his tragic death.”
