Bauer Media, which has offices at Lynch Wood, is to make changes to 10 of its publications, including a number published out of Peterborough.

The changes have been announced after what the company says was a comprehensive review of its operations.

It is hoped any employees affected by the changes will, where possible, be redeployed within the business.

A spokeswoman added: “We are unable to discuss any further information around redundancies at this time.”

The review has concluded one brand will move to a digital and event based format, one will be merged, three titles will close after publication of their final issue and five titles could be sold.

Chris Duncan, chief executive of UK Publishing, said: “In order to protect the long-term health of our publishing business we have had to make tough decisions about the future of some much-loved titles.

“While some magazines sadly will close, we remain hopeful that a number will continue to publish under new ownership.

“We remain fully committed and positive about the strength of our remaining portfolio.”

Seven of the 10 titles are published from Peterborough.

They include Practical Photography, which is to close with the August issue, on sale July 2, being the final one, Mother & Baby will move to a digital and event based format with last printed and downloadable digital edition being the August issue, on sale July 8, while Golf World and Golf Today will merge. The last standalone issue of Golf World and downloadable digital edition will be the August issue, on sale July 16.

The titles Simply You and Planet Rock are London based and will close with final issues next month.

The magazines Car Mechanics, Modern Classics, Your Horse and Sea Angler, all published from Peterborough, and Q, which is not published from the city, look set to be sold.

Bauer is currently in advanced stages of negotiations with potential new owners for the titles - in print and digital - and says it is hopeful of a timely conclusion to the discussions.
