The rally, which began in Cromwell Road, was organised by the Peterborough Women’s Aid group and ended in a gathering outside Peterborough Town Hall.
About 30 to 40 women and men took part in the march and they were welcomed outside the Town Hall by Peterborough City Council leader Councillor Shabina Qayyum.
She said: “It is a real symbol that you have walked from one of the most diverse parts of our city through the city centre to the town hall to show people the importance of the work that you are doing.
"This movement sends messages to every single woman who is seen and not seen in this city that there is hope.”
Afterwards, a spokesperson for Peterborough Women Aid said: “Thank you to everyone who came - it was a great promoting the work we do, supporting as many victims as possible.
She said: “The aim was to raise awareness of domestic abuse and the services we provide at our refuge.
"We achieved exactly what we wanted, which was to get people’s attention.
“We want people in Peterborough to know that Peterborough Women’s Aid is there for victims of domestic abuse.
"We are over the moon about how it went.
She added: “We know our work is absolutely life saving. We know seven women a month are killed in the UK through domestic abuse.
"There are high rates of domestic abuse in Peterborough.
"We save lives, protect women and girls and want to let the city know we are out there."
