The Old Station Quarter, in Unex House, in Viersen Platz, Bourges Boulevard, has brought together a range of fun businesses to create an environment in which people can work from specially created workstations but also devote spare time to a range of pursuits.
Fitting out the 8,000 square feet of former office space.has been under way for about seven months.
Now the six directors are gearing up for its official opening on June 1.
One of the directors, Leigh Tilbrook, who runs Electric Workshop, said: “We’re trying to create a community here – it’s something that Peterborough hasn’t got.
"It is a multi-use space, coffee shop and is just a cool space to bring all these businesses together.
He said: “When we took over the building it was pretty much empty, without electricity and water, so we have put all of that in place and created quite a beautiful space from a very empty building.”
Leigh said the Old Station Quarter is aimed at a range of people.
He said: “We have a social membership, which is aimed at people who want to work from here, so you have the gym space where you can train in the morning, and then set up in the bar and cafe areas to work for the day.
"There is also a meeting room that can be rented out.
Leigh added: But you don’t need a membership to come here in the evenings for the bar.”
He said the idea for the Old Station had developed a few years ago as a way of bringing a number of businesses together.
He said: “Suddenly UNEX House came up and it felt this was the right thing to do now.”
The Old Station Quarter will be home to three existing businesses, tattoo workshop Electric Workshop, currently in Westgate, boxing club Gentlemen and Rogues of Yaxley and a Been Around Coffee outlet, Tola Macaulay’s TMacLife physiotherapy hub and there will also be bar, a café as well as a state-of-the-art fitness facility and street food venue.
