Organisers say that about 1,200 people of all ages and abilities joined the fitness coach and author.
The attendance was a big increase on the traditional turnout at what has become an annual event.
Joe Wicks said: “It was incredible, not just because of the number of people who turned up, but because of the mix of ages and abilities getting involved together.
"You don’t have to be a runner to take part – it’s about getting outside, moving your body and being part of your local community.”
Co-event director Gary Parr said: “The event exceeded all our expectations.
“We had 1,205 runners including 130 first timers. It was a really enjoyable occasion.”
The Peterborough event was one of six to be held this year at different locations across the UK.
