Aerial photos have revealed the extent of a huge field fire in Peakirk, near Peterborough, over the weekend.
At 3.34pm on Saturday (July 25), Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to reports of a field fire in Rectory Lane, Peakirk.
Upon arrival at the scene, crews found three fields well alight and used hose reels and beaters to get the fire under control.
Firefighters then worked to further extinguish hot spots before dampening down the area.
Crews from Dogsthorpe, Stanground, Whittlesey, Littleport, the Peterborough Volunteer Fire Brigade, alongside a crew from Stamford in Lincolnshire and a specialist 4x4 vehicle from Thorney worked for several hours to contain the blaze.
The incident was scaled down late on Saturday evening, but crews remained at the scene overnight to check for hotspots.
Fields across Cambridgeshire have been left exceptionally dry after a prolonged period of hot weather.
The fire could be seen from miles around, with aerial images showing the village of Peakirk covered by smoke.
