A popular Peterborough photographer has said ‘I must be barking’ after releasing his latest book – which celebrates the nation’s love of dogs.
Chris Porsz – known as The Paramedic Paparazzo – has released Barking 2!, his second book containing his very best pictures of pet pooches.
Chris has released a number of books containing his very best pictures from the streets of Peterborough – and further afield, and all have proved very popular, including the first ‘Barking!’ book, which was published in 2019.
On his latest book – which included dogs of all shapes and sizes, from pugs to Dalmatians, Chris said: “I must be barking, as my 2019 book Barking! was intended to be just a one off. However due to popular demand from dog lovers, here is Barking 2 for you all to enjoy with over
200 new pooches from America and around the UK.
"I think the reason for Barking’s great success is that it is very different to most dog books where the subjects are often static and posed. I adopt my street photography approach which is walking many miles and seizing the
moment to capture random dogs from mutts to pedigrees in motion. I am constantly scanning the horizon looking for that stand out dog and my face lights up with a smile when I spot one.”
He added: “I am mainly a street photographer focusing on people but I also love taking pictures of dogs because in many ways they are very similar to us. They are immensely curious and come in all shapes and sizes, scruffy, dapper, posh, pretty and not, bold and shy. They come sniffing around me and my camera and fortunately most are friendly except for an occasional cocked leg, snarl and a growl.”
Chris also had some top tips for other photographers to get the perfect pic of an adorable canine.
He said: “I think the commonest fault when using a camera or mobile phone is to stand above looking down at a posed and stationary dog which as you will see, in my book, is the opposite to my approach. So I recommend getting down close and personal, attract the dogs attention with a woof or miaow and seize the moment before it has gone.”

You can see him at his charity stalls in the Peterborough City Hospital atrium most Wednesdays and Thursdays up until Christmas. Part proceeds from all my books will go to the Oncology Day Unit and Breast Cancer Research to say thank you.
