Fundraising Peterborough bonfire display cancelled

The annual bonfire and fireworks display on Werrington Primary School fields in Amberley Slope has been cancelled - in what would have been its 50th anniversary.

Bonfire night fireworks display at Werrington Primary School which has been cancelled this year.

The event - a huge fundraiser for the Werrington Scouts and Guides and the school’s PTA - was to have taken place on November 2.

However, taking to social media the organisers said: “It is with much regret that we announce we are unable to put on a fireworks display for 2020.

“With the current government guidelines in place and the unknown date of any changes to the guidelines we can’t make the large financial commitment to purchase the fireworks.

“This is especially sad, as this would have been our 50th year of putting on a display. We hope to be back with a bang in 2021.”
