September is the month when many of us return to normality after the summer holidays, and that often involves jumping in the car for the school run or commute to work.
We’re all guilty of running late every now and then, but in the eyes of the law that’s no excuse to exceed the speed limit on your journey.
Alongside drink and drug driving, not wearing a seatbelt, using a mobile phone and careless driving, speeding is one of the ‘fatal five’ contributory factors responsible for the majority of serious road traffic collisions and deaths
Speed cameras play an important role in keeping our roads safe, acting as a deterrent against speeding drivers.
The minimum penalty for speeding is a £100 fine and three penalty points added to your licence, but depending on the seriousness of the offence the punishment could be more severe.
Here in Peterborough, fixed speed cameras work to prevent speeding on major roads such as the A47 and A1, as well as some inner-city routes.
Cambridgeshire Police shares the locations of its fixed speed cameras across the county, alongside the data produced by them.
This includes the number of speeding offences recorded each year and how said offences were punished.
With September set to be a busy time for Peterborough’s roads, we’ve taken a look at the fixed speed camera locations in and around the city where you could be caught this month.
