A leading footwear retailer is creating jobs with the opening of its second store in Peterborough.

Europe’s largest footwear specialist Deichmann is currently recruiting staff for its new outlet in the Serpentine Green Shopping Centre, in Hampton.

An opening date has not been revealed for the store but hoarding across the front of the outlet states the opening will be ‘soon’.

Deichmann, which has 120 stores across the UK including one in the Queensgate Shopping Centre, in Peterborough, is moving into the unit previously occupied by discounter Poundland, which closed in 2018.

The |£85 million turnover Deichmann opened its Queensgate branch three years ago following a £400,000 refit of the former HMV unit.

The Germany-headquartered retailer operates a distribution centre at Corby and has its UK head office in Market Harborough, Leicestershire.
