Five upcoming road closures Peterborough residents need to be aware of
With the end of May fast approaching, Peterborians who live and work in the east of the city are being encouraged to consider amending their upcoming car journeys.
The reason for this lies in the fact the city council is set to carry out “localised resurfacing works” on no fewer than five roads throughout the Gunthorpe area between Tuesday May 26 and Wednesday May 27.
The affected roads to be avoided during these dates are: Mountsteven Avenue, Churchfield Road, Croyland Road, Western Avenue and Willow Avenue.
Full details

The following roads will be closed from May 26 to May 27 between 9.30am and 3:30pm:
Mountsteven Avenue, as it lies between Arundel Road east and Arundel Road west. Drivers can use Arundel Road as a diversion;
Churchfield Road at its junction with Mountsteven Avenue. Churchfield Road, Paston Lane, Fulbridge Road and Mountsteven Avenue (and vice versa) is the best alternative route;
Croyland Road at its junction with Mountsteven Avenue. A diversion of Croyland Road, Holland Avenue, Fulbridge Road and Mountsteven Avenue (and vice versa) will be in place.
These roads will be closed on Wednesday May 27 only:
Western Avenue, as it lies between Chestnut Avenue and Eastern Avenue. Motorists should use Chestnut Avenue, Central Avenue and Eastern Avenue (and vice versa) routing instead;
Willow Avenue at its junction with Western Avenue. Almond Road, Central Avenue and Eastern Avenue (and vice versa) is the most efficient workaround.
Actual closure dates for all works will be confirmed locally on-site.
