The Peterborough Telegraph has compiled a list of events for families to do in Peterborough this bank holiday weekend.
From today, a special four-day bank holiday weekend (from June 2 to June 5) will take place – celebrating Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
In 2015, The Queen became the longest reigning monarch in British history, surpassing the reign of her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria.
On February 6 this year, she became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee – marking the 70th anniversary of her accession to the throne in 1952.
This bank holiday weekend encourages everyone across the UK to come together to celebrate her 70 years of service to the people of the UK, the Realms and the Commonwealth.
Here is the Peterborough Telegraph’s list of five things for families to do over the bank holiday weekend:
5. Peterborough Cathedral Jubilee picnic
Peterborough Cathedral is putting on a Jubilee picnic, which will take place on the Cathedral Green on Sunday, June 5, from 12 noon to 3pm. The front of the Cathedral will also be lit red, white and blue each evening over the bank holiday. Other events, including guided tours of the Cathedral, displays of photos and portraits of The Queen throughout her reign and a celebratory peal of bells, will be taking place throughout the bank holiday.
