Final farewell to Peterborough’s Nobby

A handful of mourners gathered to pay a final farewell to one of Peterborough’s most colourful characters.

The funeral of Michael Ross - better known to most Peterborough residents as Nobby the Tramp - was held at Peterborough Crematorium this morning (Friday).

Michael had no close family, so a small number of residents attended the service to remember him. Michael died earlier this month aged 74 following a battle with illness. Michael was best known for his time living in a bus shelter on Oundle Road, but ended his life living in sheltered accommodation in Dogsthorpe. Since his death there have been calls for a permanent memorial for Michael. The funeral was paid with funds from Michael’s estate.
