Emergency sewer repairs in the Ortons, Peterborough set to extend throughout February
Emergency sewer repairs in Peterborough are set to continue until at least the end of February.
Since November 17, a section of Goldhay Way, close to Alnwick and Pennington has been closed while Anglian Water carries out investigation and sewer repair works.
Initially large tankers were brought to the area to keep the sewage system working but these were then replaced by overground pipes.
The work was originally due to be completed until January 23 but this has since been extended into February.

A planned scheme of works has also been paused in the area to avoid gridlock. This would have led to a partial closure of Malborne Way, likely leading to traffic in the area. Therefore ward councillor Kirsty Knight facilitated an agreement between from Highways that the gas works on Malborne Way will not begin until Goldhay Way has reopened.
An update from Anglian Water stated: “Since November 17, we've been carrying out investigation work on and around Goldhay Way and started repairing the sewer. O
"Once we were in the location of the first collapse we found a second section of pipe that had collapse which was outside of our existing excavation point.
"We have then had to back fill and remove the shoring from the first excavation and then start on the second collapse.
"We’re expecting our repair to be complete by February 27 and will keep our website updated with any changes.
"None of our work will have an impact on your water or sewerage services.”
