East of England Arena pitches campsite offer

The East of England Arena and Events Centre will be offering space for motorhomes and caravans for much of September.

Managers say the venue is an ideal stop off point for holiday makers as they make their way across the country to enjoy a staycation.

The Arena will open as a campsite between September 4 and September 27.

It will have space to take up to 40 self-contained motorhomes or caravans with an additional 20 larger motorhome spaces located on hardstanding pitches.

Venue director, Jason Lunn said: “We were the first venue to host a Public Health England-monitored event in England when The Outdoor Motorhome Campervan Sale opened here in August.

“It attracted 500 camping units and 5,000 people in a Covid-19 safe environment and we have Truckfest on site at the end of August, but September is very quiet with events restarting again in October.

Mr Lunn added: “It was after the motorhome show we realised that there may be an opportunity to offer a simple solution to anyone wanting a stop off during their staycation or as a break when driving north or south on the A1.

“We are not offering power at the moment but may be able to if requested in advance and we are charging a simple, fixed rate of £18 per night regardless of size or type of vehicle.”

Vehicle owners wishing to book on the site must have self-contained vehicles as toilet and shower blocks will not be open.
