The British tennis star posted a YouTube video thanking staff at Addebrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge where he went for a scan a few months ago.

In the video, the three-time Grand Slam winner also revealed that he had made an undisclosed donation to the Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust’s ‘Help Your Hospital’ appeal.

The Scot said: “Hi to everybody at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. I just wanted to send you a quick message to thank you so much for all of the work that you’re doing just now.

“This is obviously an extremely difficult time for everyone, but none more so than the healthcare workers, so I just want to say a big thanks for all of your hard work, dedication and the sacrifices that you’re making at this time for all of us.

“I was at your hospital just a few months ago for a scan and everyone there was fantastic and extremely helpful, and I have made a donation to the ACT charity to say thank you very much for everything that you’re doing - I appreciate it.”

A spokesperson for the trust thanked Mr Murray for his donation.
