Coronavirus: Shocking lack of social distancing in Peterborough as large bank queues form in city centre

More shocking examples of people ignoring social distancing rules have emerged in Peterborough.

Despite the Government ordering UK citizens to stay at least 2m apart and not congregate in groups of more than two to try and stop the spread of the coronavirus, the message does not appear to be getting through to many who continue to go about their daily lives in Lincoln Road, Millfield. This is despite Boris Johnson insisting that people should only leave their home when they absolutely have to. People caught breaking rules on social distancing can be fined £30. Police in Peterborough said this afternoon: “There has been a noticeable increase in vehicle traffic and people out and about on foot across Peterborough today. Ask yourself ‘is my journey essential?’. If not stay at home.” Meanwhile, the need to keep a distance from other people has led to large queues forming in Cathedral Square as people use banks including Natwest and Barclays. Residents were reportedly waiting outside for hours as they waited to be seen. So far three people at Peterborough City Hospital have died from coronavirus, while the total number of deaths in the UK has reached 578.
