Coronavirus: Further deaths at hospitals run by Peterborough health trust as number of new city cases slows

More patients diagnosed with coronavirus have died at local hospitals, but the number of Covid-19 cases in Peterborough has slowed in recent days.

The latest figures published by NHS England show that the number of patients with coronavirus who have died at Peterborough City Hospital and Hinchingbrooke Hospital - which are run by the North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust - has risen to 48, with at least one of the hospitals recording a death in the past eight days.

However, the number of people in Peterborough testing positive for Covid-19 has grown at a slower pace over the past few days, with the total rising to 103 - two more than on Sunday.

Across the UK, 778 people with the virus have died over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths in hospitals to 12,107.

So far, 93,873 people in the country have tested positive for Covid-19.

That includes 399 in Cambridgeshire, 480 in Lincolnshire and 748 in Northamptonshire.
