Coronavirus: 40% of Peterborough care homes report Covid-19 outbreak as three more people die

Data from Public Health England shows 14 out of 35 city care homes have recorded an outbreak.
They were all recorded between March 30 and the week beginning May 4.

Hide AdThe vast majority - 11 - came in a three week period beginning from April 13.
The percentage is slightly higher in Cambridgeshire where 54 out of 131 have reported an outbreak (41.2 per cent).
Of those, 41 have come in the latest four week period that figures are available for.
Yesterday, the Prime Minister’s spokesman said 38 per cent of care homes (5,889) in England had reported a suspected outbreak of coronavirus as of May 17.

Hide AdThe Office for National Statistics has also today published the latest weekly update on the number of deaths in care homes associated with Covid-19 as recorded by the Care Quality Commission.
The figures show three more deaths in Peterborough up to and including May 15, taking the total to 17.
In Cambridgeshire, the total has risen from 77 to 91.
The latest ONS figures show there have been 41,020 coronavirus-related deaths in the UK.
Of these, 9,980 were in care homes in England and Wales.
