Hide AdCaptain Tom caught the public's imagination when he walked 100 laps of his garden before his 100th birthday.
Initially hoping to raise £1,000 for NHS charities, his story inspired the nation - drawing praise and admiration from all around the world - and Captain Tom raised a staggering £32million.
Determined to do more, the 100-year-old and his family have identified causes close to their hearts which will benefit from the newly formed Captain Tom Foundation.
They are combating loneliness, supporting hospices and helping those facing bereavement.
