120 staff to be recruited in Peterborough by food company

Recruitment by AMT Fresh is expected to start early next month for its new warehouse at Peterborough Gateway, at Alwalton Hill.

The company is looking to fill a range of roles including machine operatives, reach truck, section leaders and PPT operators.

The firm currently has about 40 permanent and around 30 to 40 temporary staff.

The new recruits would start be expected to start work from about August 17.

AMT Fresh is part of the AM Fresh Group and works with supermarket chain Tesco to supply citrus, grapes, pineapples, melons and vegetables.

To grow the partnership, it has created a new business, AMK Services, to manage the packing, warehousing and distribution of products to Tesco throughout the UK, which will operate from the new purpose built state-of-the-art facility in Peterborough.

The warehouse is designed to be temperature controlled to maintain the quality of the fresh produce, focus on performance and to deliver an industry leading sustainability agenda.

The site is eventually expected to employ around 300 people.

Its facilities for staff include vending machines, fridges, microwaves as well as a high quality working environment and benefits including a cycle to work scheme a discounted shopping voucher scheme and free health checks.

It also offers extensive development opportunities and training from PPT refreshers to apprenticeship schemes.
