Finding somewhere to eat out isn’t always an easy task, particularly if you’re new to Peterborough or don’t dine in restaurants very often.
Peterborough may not have as many dining options as some of the country’s bigger cities, but that certainly doesn’t mean locals have limited options to choose from.
From classic greasy spoon cafes to high-end Japanese restaurants, the city’s dining scene really does have something for everyone.
A quick Google search will lead you to the city’s top-rated restaurants, but that doesn’t necessarily make them the best.
It’s often better to go off word of mouth; recommendations from people who know the city inside out.
We recently asked readers on our Facebook page to recommend their favourite ‘hidden gem’ restaurants and cafes that others should visit this summer.
By this, we mean the places that don’t often get the love they deserve, despite serving superb food and drink.
After receiving nearly 300 responses, it’s fair to say that readers put plenty of thought into this one.
Below we’ve taken a look at 10 of the most popular suggestions:

9. Kaimas Lithuanian Restaurant - 561-563 Lincoln Rd

10. Mamma Mia by Sub Xpress - Serpentine Green Shopping Centre
4.5/5 Google rating. A recent customer said: "Mamma Mia is one of the best Italian restaurants I have ever eaten at. I am from London where great European food is easy to find, and this still stands out." Photo: Google
