Political View: Working hard and fighting two-tier positive discrimination

Your Reform-UK Councillors in Peterborough have been busy delivering practical improvements, including environmental maintenance, tackling illegal parking and untaxed vehicles, addressing nuisance motorbikes and helping to clear fly-tipping hotspots, writes city spokesman Cllr Peter Reeve MBE.

We have also been working hard on the bigger community projects that you have been asking for including getting potholes, paths, streetlamps and community infrastructure repaired and putting in bids for new amenities including pathways and cycling routes.

The big news, however, is the exposure of ‘Two-Tier Policing’ because of the tragic death of Henry Nowak.

Reform-UK Councillor Layton Mills, who is a former police sergeant with more than 30 years' experience, said that he was “shocked and disgusted by the actions of those police officers”

Reform-UK Group leader Andy O’Neil and other Reform-UK leaders across Cambridgeshire have written to the Chief Constable of Cambridgeshire Constabulary requesting a meeting to discuss the issues that this tragic case brings to question regarding ‘Two-Tier policing’ caused by the ‘Positive Discrimination’ promoted in the training of Police officers.

However, Labour and Lib-Dem politicians seem to be missing the point. This problem is not the fault of the police, although the two-tier policing in the UK is most certainly the result of ‘Equity training’ at the expense of ‘Equality in the eyes of the law’ in the police guidelines. This is just one symptom of the much bigger problem of ‘Positive Discrimination’ in the UK which is a pandemic undermining our society, culture and community.

Whilst politicians like the Labour Leader of Peterborough City Council, whose rhetoric seems to parrot and copy Kier Starmer at every council meeting, calling for unity and equality and pointing their fingers at those who call them out, screeching that we are causing division. The real division is in the policies and toxic culture of the Labour party.

The Irony is not wasted on me that whilst Kier Starmer wags his finger at Nigel Farage MP, and Shabina mimics Starmer wagging her finger at Reform-UK here. The first councillor to resign since the elections was elected as a Labour councillor stating that the reason for her resignation included “a culture of unchecked power, bullying and marginalisation, systematic cover-ups, lack of transparency and an unresolved instance of antisemitism involving a ‘prominent Labour Party supporter’.

It is time the Labour leadership here stopped their divisive ‘identity politics’ and sort out their own Party both locally and nationally. They should focus on the real issues such as the huge waste of taxpayers' money happening every day here in Peterborough. One of the first decisions that the Labour-Lib-Dem-Peterborough First Cabinet of Peterborough City Council has made is to sell the Hilton Hotel building at a £15 million loss - Yet more evidence of ongoing poor quality of leadership at Peterborough City Council.

As we have always said, Reform-UK is here and exists because real people in our communities want to fix the mess that the old parties have been and continue to cause. We are here to do exactly that.
