Opinion: ‘Why install these bright street lights and why are they on all night?’
He writes: “If the intention is to save money, why then has new motorway lighting been installed on Oundle Road/A605 from the Lynchwood roundabout, past Alwalton to Chesterton and which have been switched on, night and day since installation.
They now encourage motorists to drive at motorway speed, 50-70mph along this short stretch of road.
The speed limit here has been reduced from 50mph to 40mph.

Hide AdThis too is completely disregarded. There is no traffic control whatsoever.
Also, the brilliant 70ft lights shine, all night, into the bedrooms and other windows of the local residents.
Can we have an intelligent reply stating what purpose these lights serve, and if the intention is to save money, why were these totally unnecessary lights installed, and why are they not switched off at night?
There is almost no traffic at all after dark and not much during the day, all of which is speeding.”
