Local Elections 2026: We stand for less waste and better services
Reform will provide you better services and spend your money on what matters to you, writes a Party spokesperson.
We will spend money on Housing (for Peterborough residents not illegal migrants), we will spend money on projects that reduce Crime and we will spend money on Facilities and Services that Peterborough Council taxpayers want and need.

All Reform candidates standing to represent Peterborough residents on the Council are horrified at the gross financial mismanagement and numerous financial scandals that has plagued Peterborough City Council whilst being led by Conservative, Labour and Peterborough First Councillors over the last decade.
In December, residents may have read that Police were investigating the Council’s unlawful sale of the John Mansfield Centre for £1. A building worth £4.6 million.
In January, residents may have read that £17 million of their money was spent without contracts, cabinet approval or legal authority on emergency homeless accommodation over the last ten years. Reform absolutely supports the need to provide emergency accommodation but there are processes to follow to ensure tax payers receive value for money. These processes were simply ignored.
In March, you may have learnt that the Council is to sell the TK Maxx building in Bridge Street for £2 million having bought it for £4 million in 2020. It was bought to be used as a community hub, without first establishing that necessary refurbishment and use would be far too expensive.
We are still waiting to hear whether £9 million or £13 million of your money has been wasted subsidising the building of the unused “Hilton” hotel. This was a vanity project approved by the former Conservative administration and would never have produced any meaningful benefit for residents, even if successfully completed, which, 7 years on from building commencement, it isn’t.
Financial scandals are being announced by Peterborough City Council on a near monthly basis. This is not sustainable or acceptable. Reform would not tolerate such chaos, scandal and financial mismanagement as the current and former administrations have overseen.
In Hampton Vale our Reform candidate is Steve Newson.
Whilst representing you through Reform on tackling this hideous waste of your money and on City wide issues, Steve will address local issues affecting the Hamptons that are not being adequately addressed.
These range from improving accessibility for prams and wheelchair users (especially near the Aldi store on Hampton Way), improving parking outside the Stewartby shops and lobbying to restrict the number of HMOs. Fly tipping and improving the Community spirit in Hampton Vale, that has been in steady decline since Covid, are also high on Steve’s list.
Vote for Steve Newson – Reform if you want to see;
Less waste and reduced spending on net zero, diversity and woke projects.
Better public services, more attractive City Centre and Safer Communities.
Businesses supported with more jobs being created.
Less crime and prioritising of crime reduction initiatives.
Opposition to housing illegal migrants in your communities.
