The first picture shows players and club officials suited and booted and lead, of course, by the irrepressible Barry Fry.

The picture is dated January19,1998, so the clothes can’t have been for a Wembley appearance.

I have a vague memory of then owner Peter Boizot sponsoring an exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts in London and I wonder if this was connected?

Posh beat Newcastle in the FA Cup in 1962

The next picture is an action shot from Posh’s FA Cup tie with the mighty Newcastle in 1962.

Posh pulled off a huge upset at St James’ Park winning 1-0 with a goal by Terry Bly.

Just look at that crowd in the background.

Posh earned a reputation as giant-killers and they were at it again in 1986.

Can you name the Posh players waiting for the cup draw in 1986?

In those days it was tradition for fans and players alike to gather around a radio to listen to the cup draw. Posh had beaten Leeds in the third round but failed to land a plum tie - they were pulled out of the hat alongside Carlisle United. How many of the players can you name?

Two famous names from Posh history manager Noel Cantwell and striker and captain John Cozens donned the mayoral robes before a civic reception for the team who won the 4th Division in 1974.

The final picture is of the Peterborough United team from 1938-1939, four years after the club was formed.

Next week, I’ll feature some great pictures of Posh fans through the years.

If you have any pictures or any information about today’s photographs, please get in touch.
