Anjana Patel joined forces with Athena Holistics to fundraise for the Oncology Unit at Peterborough City Hospital.

Together they held a reiki healing night where those that attended could receive a fifteen minute healing session from reiki trained therapists for a donation of £5.

They could also have an angel card reading and purchase therapy items such as crystals.

The event took place at Café Clarkes in Peterborough and was supported by the owner, Ranjan Odedra, who also felt strongly about fundraising as she lost her mother to cancer.

Anjana Patel said: “I really wanted to give back to the department for the care and treatment I had received as a patient.

“The evening was a huge success and we raised £800 on the night. We held some additional fundraising activities and managed to increase our figure to £1,111.”

Anjana and members of Athena Holistic presented their cheque to Dr Karen McAdam, Consultant Oncologist, on the Oncology Day Unit at the beginning of July.

Dr McAdam said the money was vital so staff could keep helping patients.

She said: “We are always grateful for the donations we receive and the money goes towards ensuring that patients are as comfortable as they can be during treatment.”
