Gallery: Stamford Christmas lights switch-on 2015
The rearranged event took place yesterday afternoon (Thursday, December 3). The switch-on was supposed to take place on Sunday (November 29) but it was rescheduled as a result of bad weather.
Keen sportsman Seb Goold had to have his right leg amputated above the knee after falling from a moving coach in April last year. But he is now well on the road to recovery, in part thanks to donations to the Seb Goold Trust, which is aims to fund specialist prosthetics and equipment to help Seb play sport once more.
Seb arrived in a sleigh with Father Christmas and mayor of Stamford Sue Sandall before pressing the switch to turn the lights on. A big crowd turned up to see him do the honours, and there was festive entertainment from young singers.
The planned Stamford Christmas Festival, also due to take place on Sunday, was cancelled and will not be rescheduled.
