Groups such as Community First, Family Voice, Fletton Pick-up Artists, Green Backyard, Gladstone Connect, Keep Britain Tidy’s Litter Hero Ambassadors, RiverCare and others are setting up a programme of events which currently includes a dozen litter picks across the city centre, Lincoln Road/Gladstone Street area, the Ortons, Fletton, Bretton, the river bank and Ferry Meadows.

New events are being added continually.

The aim is to transform the city by clearing litter from the well-known grot spots that blight the environment.

The city council is supporting the programme by providing equipment and collecting bags of litter picked up by volunteers.

It is easy for anyone to join a litter pick by registering on Keep Britain Tidy’s website at: https://www.keepbritaintidy.org/get-involved/support-our-campaigns/great-british-spring-clean.

Anyone who wants to set up their own litter pick can do so on the same website, where additional support and information is provided.
