Peterborough brown bin collections to become fortnightly following COVID alteration

Garden waste collections in Peterborough will return to fortnightly from next week (4 August), following the move to a four weekly extended collection as a result of the impact the COVID-19 on waste services.

Councillor Marco Cereste, Cabinet Member for waste services, said: “Reduced staffing levels and high levels of household waste during the lockdown period meant we had to prioritise our resources to household waste and reduce the garden waste collection, but I am pleased to say we are now in a position to return to fortnightly garden waste collections. From next week, brown bins will be collected fortnightly on the same day as green bin collections. I want to thank our crews who have worked extremely hard and also to thank residents for their continued support and understanding during these difficult times.”

You can use Peterborough City Council’s bin collection day search tool to find out what day your green and brown bin will be collected by visiting www.peterborough.gov.uk/bin-day.

Garden waste subscription for 2020/21 will open on Thursday 30 July.
