Nene Park Trust, which runs the park (including Ferry Meadows), highlighted the issue on social media after rubbish which should have been taken to the household recycling centre was instead left in one of its bins.

A spokesperson said: "We have noticed that our bins in the park are being used for the disposal of personal household waste, which has an obvious environmental cost and is causing more work for our busy ranger team.

"Please can we ask our visitors to dispose of their rubbish appropriately. Thank you!"
