Police were called to reports of the attack on Sunday evening (April 12) in Riseholme. The boy has taken to hospital but did not survive his injuries.
Detectives are treating the boy’s death as murder and two people from Peterborough – a 15-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man – have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
A 17-year-old girl from Peterborough has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and a 16-year-old girl from March has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and possession of a bladed article.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, a large area of Misterson and Riseholme, next to the Ortongate Shopping centre has been cordoned off. The centre remains open as normal but the rear car park is closed and access via the arcade that opens onto Misterson has been blocked off.
St John's Church School, which is located right next to the cordoned off area, has taken the decision to close while it is still in place.
In an email to parents, the school said that it had taken the decision to close because of the serious incident.
The school will reopen on Tuesday morning (April 14) with Peanut Park being used as the access point to the school grounds.
The cordon is expected to be in place over the coming days and there will be an increased police presence in the area during this time.
