Police have released a tragic update following the closure of the A47 this morning (Thursday)

A man has sadly died after falling from a bridge over the A47 in Peterborough this morning, Cambs Police have confirmed.

Emergency services were called at 7.40am today (December 19) with what police called “reports of concern for the man on the Soke Parkway, at Bretton Gate”.

As reported, the road was subsequently closed in both directions, with motorists and pedestrians advised to avoid the area.

A Cambs Police spokesperson said this afternoon: “Emergency services attended, however the man was declared dead at the scene.

“The road between the A1260 (Nene Parkway) and A15 (Paston Parkway) was closed for several hours, but re-opened at just after 1pm.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious.”
