Driver escapes with minor injuries after crashing into a ditch near Peterborough

Emergency services were called to Bukehorn Road, Thorney at 7.10am today.

A Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Crews arrived to find one vehicle came off the road and into a ditch. Firefighters used specialist equipment to release one casualty."

A Cambridgeshire police spokesman added: "We were called at about 7.10am today with reports a Vauxhall Corsa had gone into a ditch in Bukehorn Road, Thorney.

"A road closure was put in place because of an unsafe street light. One man was taken to hospital with slight injuries.

"The road was re-opened at about 11.40am."
