Residents, councillors and volunteers have helped create the The Goldhay Community Flower bed in Paynels, Orton Goldhay.

Cllr Heather Skibsted said the two council flower beds in The Paynels, Orton Goldhay have been untended for a number of years and were becoming very overgrown. Starting in September 2019, together with some hard working and committed local volunteers, a team cleared the vast quantity of weeds, dug both beds over, planted both beds with flowers and covered the surrounding areas with woodchip.

However, after weeks of hard work, now vandals have struck damaging signs and destroying work carried out.

Cllr Skibsted said: “The sign has now been mindlessly vandalised between Saturday July 11 at 5pm and Monday July 13 at 8am.

“Hours of voluntary work has gone into the making of this bed and the sign advertised it was for “everyone to look after and enjoy.”
