Cambridgeshire police said there had been a number of reports from residents in the Stanground area.

A spokesman said: “It’s been reported that three men are knocking on doors and pointing out faults with properties from guttering issues to loose roof tiles. They offer to fix them for a set price but charge more once the work is complete.

“Remember… stay alert, always ask for ID and don’t feel pressured into agreeing to works immediately. If a tradesperson is genuine, they won’t mind leaving a quote for you to contact them later.”
