Post mortem confirms Peterborough father of three died from stab wound

A post mortem has confirmed a father of three died of a stab wound following an attack in Welland.

A post mortem examination took place at Peterborough City Hospital this afternoon to establish the cause of death of father of three Dainius Kasiliauskis, (27),

Mr Kasilauskas died on Friday in Tilton Court, Welland.

A Cambridgeshire Police spokesman said: “A postmortem conducted today (16 June) at Peterborough City Hospital concluded that Mr Dainius Kasiliauskis, 27, sustained several injuries during the attack and died as a result of a stab wound.”

Officers were called at 9.42am on Friday to reports of a stabbing in Tilton Court, Welland, Peterborough.

Emergency services attended but Mr Kasiliauskis of Buckminster Place, Peterborough, died at the scene.

Leam Smith, 19, of Branston Rise, Peterborough, has been charged with murder and is due to appear at Norwich Crown Court virtually tomorrow (17 June).

A 30-year-old man, from Peterborough, who was arrested on suspicion of murder on Saturday (13 June) has been released on conditional bail while a 45-year-old woman, from Peterborough, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, has been released with no further action taken.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil Langford said: “Our thoughts remain with the family of Mr Kasiliauskis at this difficult time.

“This is being treated as an isolated incident.”
