Police target Peterborough streets for high-visibility patrols after increase in callouts

The police have been carrying out patrols across crime hotspots in the city as part of national Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week, which runs from July 19-25.

The week is being run for the first time in 2021 after a huge rise in reports of anti-social behaviour during the national lockdowns; with the situation expected to get worse aa the country continues to open up.

In Peterborough, St Michael’s Gate in Parnwell and Kings Gate, within Kings Gardens, close to the city centre, are two areas that have seen reports of anti-social behaviour rise.

As a result, police will be increasing high-visibility patrols in the two areas.

This follows on from the increase in similar patrols in Central Park because of the same concerns.

A statement from Cambridgeshire Police said: “As part of ASBAwarenessWeek the Eastern Neighbourhood Team have been including some key areas within their high visibility patrols.

“St. Michael’s Gate in Parnwell and Kings Walk within Kings Gardens have been areas where reports of ASB (Anti Social Behaviour) are increasing.

“We will be out on foot in these locations, engaging with residents and conducting patrols. Please come and say hello if you see any of our officers.
