Police investigation as man found seriously injured in Peterborough street

Police have begun an investigation after being called to a Peterborough street where a man was found seriously injured.

Police, ambulance crews and the air ambulance were at the scene at Southfields Drive, Stanground this evening (January 5) and the road was closed off at both ends.

Residents had reportedly been told to stay inside and one told the Peterborough Telegraph that they had seen officers searching bins in the street.

Police have confirmed that they received reports of a violent incident and they are currently investigating after finding a man seriously injured.

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Police said: “Officers were called at 4.30pm today (January 5) to reports of violence in Southfields Drive, Peterborough.

“Emergency services are in attendance and a man has been seriously injured.

“No arrests have been made at this time and an investigation is ongoing.”
