Police ‘increase patrols’ after man attacks woman running by Peterborough train track

Police have “increased patrols” after a woman was attacked while out running in Peterborough last night (Monday).

The assault was reported to Cambridgeshire police at 8.46pm.

The woman is said to have been grabbed by a man while running on a path alongside the train track near Morley Way in Woodston.

On social media it has been reported that the victim fought back against her assailant after being grabbed from behind.

A police spokesman said: “The man is described as being of slim build, 5’6, black messy hair with a waist-length navy coat.

“Detectives are investigating and patrols have been increased in the area.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident should call police on 101 quoting ref: 35/16911/21 or contact us via our web-chat.”
