Police in Peterborough find evidence of drug dealing after being called to reports of a group of men with a weapon

Police in Peterborough found evidence of drug dealing after being called to reports of a large group of men gathering, one of whom was seen carrying a weapon.

Police were called to Bretton Park at 3:15 pm on Thursday to concerns about a large group of men gathering, at least one of whom was reported to be carrying a weapon.

Residents in Essendyke and Eyrescroft reported seeing a large number of Police cars and vans in the area, believed to be related to the search.

Police say that they were unable to locate the group, however, they did find a bag containing cannabis and a mobile phone, believed to have been involved in drug dealing.

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Police said: “We were contacted at about 3.15pm yesterday (6 May) with reports of a group of men with a weapon in Bretton Park.

“Officers could not locate the reported group. However, during a search of the area found a bag containing cannabis and a mobile phone believed to be linked to drug dealing.”
