Police dog helps arrest man hiding during of robbery of Peterborough supermarket

A police dog has helped to arrest a man accused of attempting to rob a Peterborough supermarket.

In the early hours of Sunday morning (April 25) Police were called to the Iceland store at Ortongate Shopping Centre after the alarm had been set off.

Police arrived, and with the help of PD Molly’s nose, were able to locate the man who had not yet fled the scene but was instead hiding in the store.

The man was remanded in custody was dueto appear in court on Monday (April 26) charged with burglary with intent to steal.

An online statement from Cambridgeshire Police said: “In the early hours of yesterday morning, PD Molly had a paw-some start to her first day back after a well-deserved holiday.

“After being called to Iceland in Ortongate Shopping Centre following the activation of the store’s alarm system, PD Molly followed her nose and quickly located a man hiding inside the shop, who was arrested and later charged with burglary with intent to steal.”
